Ce - Cerium This rare earth element was named after the planetoid Ceres which was found the year before cerium was discovered, 1803, by Berzelius and Hisinger. Pure cerium was produced in 1875 by Hillebrand and Norton. In out laboratory, cerium compounds may be observed with the emission spectrometer.
